Welcome, Principal Fallert!

The Region 3 Leadership Team is pleased to announce that Ms. Jen Fallert has been appointed as principal of Island Creek Elementary School (ES), effective July 1, 2022. 

Ms. Fallert brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the principalship with over twenty-seven years served in multiple schools with diverse communities and various academic programs within Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). She served as assistant principal since 2017 at Fort Belvoir Primary (FCPS, Region 3) and most recently at Cameron ES.  Prior to her time as an administrator, Ms. Fallert served as a special education teacher and a general education teacher since 1995 at several FCPS schools, including seven years as a general education teacher and five years as a special education teacher at Island Creek ES. During her tenure as an assistant principal, Ms. Fallert served as the Extended School Year site administrator at Woodlawn ES and as Acting Principal at Ft. Belvoir Primary. While teaching, she served as an administrative intern in the Extended School Year (ESY) program, and she earned her administrative endorsement through the Accelerated Certification Cohort (ACC) XII.

Ms. Fallert is a dedicated instructional leader who is well versed in using multiple data sources to identify student learning needs and programmatic strengths and areas for improvement. Her approach to data analysis has led to improved data collection and analysis practices within teacher teams, resulting in improved instructional practices that improve outcomes for students. Ms. Fallert focuses on the whole child, and she has wide experience supporting the social-emotional needs of students. 

Ms. Fallert is an inclusive leader who builds strong relationships with all stakeholder groups (staff, families, and students) through visibility and openness. Her time at multiple schools has given her experience in settings with racial/ethnic diversity, socio-economic diversity, and a wide array of school planning priorities. She has thrived in every setting, impacting test scores, advanced academics programming, special education servicing, equity initiatives, and more. 

Ms. Fallert earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Virginia Tech, her Master of Education Degree in Elementary Education from Marymount University, and her Master of Education Degree in Special Education from George Mason University. She earned her administrative degree through the Accelerated Certification Cohort, Fairfax County Public Schools. She holds Virginia Postgraduate Professional Licenses in Administration and Supervision PreK-12; Elementary Grades NK-8, Emotional Disturbances K-12 and Specific Learning Disabilities K-12.
