Welcome Assistant Principal, Denise Cash-Pinckney

Welcome, Ms. Denise Cash-Pinckney, Island Creek’s new assistant principal.

 

Denise is joining us from Bailey’s Upper Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences where she serves as the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Resource Teacher and School Testing Coordinator. Prior to assuming the role of MTSS Resource Teacher, she served as an Acting Assistant Principal, Advanced Academics Resource Teacher/Interventionist, and 4th Grade Teacher within the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) system.

 Denise’s professional journey also encompasses significant contributions at J.R. Ingram Elementary School in North Carolina, where she served in various capacities including Literacy Specialist, Curriculum Support Coach, and General Education Teacher across multiple grade levels (Grades 1-4). Her dedication and performance were recognized when she was honored as the “Teacher of the Year” for the 2019-20 academic year.

 Denise demonstrates collegial leadership by fostering teacher self-efficacy and enhancing staff capacity. Her approach emphasizes the importance of developing strong relationships with all stakeholders. Ms. Cash-Pinckney ensures equitable access and opportunities for all students to grow and develop to their fullest potential. She utilizes a data-driven approach to inform decision-making, effectively addressing both academic and socio-emotional needs of students.

 Denise is a graduate of Wando High School in Charleston County, SC and earned an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education at the University of NC at Pembroke.  She has a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University, an Executive Certification in Administration and Supervision, and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Liberty University.
